NCCO works together with the Cuban Ornitological Association to export various breeds of tropical birds that are bred here by it's 8000 members.
The Cuban Ornitological Association is one of the few NGO institutions in Cuba and it's members earn some extra hard currency by breeding these birds. This because the average salary is just under US$ 9.
